The total number of confirmed Covid -19 cases in Kenya has jumped to 158 after 16 more people rested positive. The number of casualties also reached six after two more people died of the disease, those who have recovered still remain four.
Following the designation of Nairobi County, Mombasa county, kilifi county and Kwale county, the president has ordered the following :
1. Movement (by road rail or air) is banned for an initial period of 21 days in and out of the Nairobi Metropolitan area wef 7.00 pm today, Monday the 6th April 2020, and Kilifi, Kwale and Mombasa Counties wef 7.00 pm in Wednesday 8th April 2020.
2. The Nairobi Metropolitan area is designated for purposes of the Order to include the Nairobi City County, parts of Kiambu County up to Chania bridge, Thika, including Rironi, Ndenderu and Kiambu Town, parts of Machakos upto Athi River including Katani, and parts of Kajiado including Kitengela, Kiserian, Ongata Rongai, Ngong’ Town.
3. No person, passenger carrying vehicles, bikes, aircraft and or rail shall be allowed in and out of Nairobi Metropolitan Area, and Kilifi, Kwale and Mombasa Counties.
4. The Order exempts the movement of food supplies and other cargo. Any cargo vessel shall be assigned a single driver and assistant, not exceeding 3 persons.
Other parts of the country will continue being under dusk till dawn curfew whileban on international flights has been extended by 30 more days.
Over 1.2 million people have tested positive for Coronavirus while another 69,000 thousand have died of the same around the world.
