Italian nurse with Covid-19 commits suicide over fears of infecting others.

A 34 year old nurse working to contain the virus in Italy committed suicide after she learnt that she Covid -19 positive, the nurse chose to end her life because she feared she would infect more people.

Daniela Trezzi had been suffering bouts of depression earlier even as she continued to work at the San Gerado Hospital in Monza, Lombardy.

The national federation of nurses in Italy expressed profound sadness over Trezzi death which came at a time when Italy recorded over 743 death.

“Each of us has chosen this profession for good and for bad, we are nurses ” the federation said in a statement.

Another nurse also committed suicide in Venice due to what the federation call “stress of the job”

Over 5, 760 nurses and doctors have tested positive for Covid-19 in Italy according to Italian research institute data, making up to 8 per cent of the total cases of Covid -19 infections in the country which currently stands at 69,176.
