The body of the late Daniel Arap Moi was moved to the parliament buildings on Sunday morning.
The body which had been preserved at Lee Funeral home after Moi died at Nairobi Hospital on February 4, is expected to be availed for public viewing later on today.
The transportation was conducted in military style as the casket was wrapped with the Kenyan flag while security personnel drawn from The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) ligned up along the road while others matched alongside the casket.
Members of the body will be allowed to see the body of Kenya’s second president up to Monday.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, the first lady Margaret Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto will among the first people to view the body.
Reports have indicated that the government plans to conduct the burial in a similar fashion to that of the first President of Kenya Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua announced that Tuesday will be a public holiday where the National Memorial Service will be held.
He will then be laid in a State Funeral on Wednesday.
